LNER’s first-class lounge at London’s King’s Cross Station has been redecorated – and opened to the public for the first time today.

London North Eastern Railway closed its private lounge in January for a ‘major refurbishment,’ focusing on better seats, greater privacy, dedicated work areas, more greenery and more comfort.

Currently, the lounge has room for 122 guests who are entitled to complimentary food and drink (yes, that’s right, once you enter, it’s free).

It sounds like the perfect place to sit down and relax before a trip.

But, there’s a catch: the lounge is only available to passengers holding a one-day LNER first class ticket or a first class ticket for a connecting LNER train. Upgraded first class tickets on LNER services also apply.

This means that regular ticket holders can’t just pay an entry fee to get freebies.

How much is a standard ticket compared to first class?

The price of any ticket depends on where you are going.

However, for those traveling on the popular cross-country routes from London to Leeds, standard tickets can be as cheap as £24. Raise that to the first level, and it can cost a whopping £125.

To Edinburgh, standard tickets are around £77. A first class upgrade essentially doubles to £150.

Let’s take a look inside the update, from everything that has been added to what people are saying.
