Como Edition: Long term spa review

Why are you leaving?

With its fresh mountain air and serene view across the vast body of water, it’s no wonder that Lake Como has always been synonymous with wellness. Yet in an area steeped in tradition and old-world charm, this new space sets itself apart with a distinctly modern, science-driven approach.

Set an event

Arriving at Lake Como for the first time is an experience I wish I could live with forever. Shades of blue melt into one another, blurring the line between sky and water, as Riva’s sleek yachts – seemingly lifted from a Bond film – slice across the lake like cake-slicing knives. Glamor is in every detail here, and the newest addition to the hotel is no exception. I’m going to visit the new Lake Como, but my goal is the beautiful Longevity Spa.

What is the backstory?

Four years earlier, Como EDITION marks the second Italian website. In collaboration with The Longevity Suite – an Italian wellness group with 36 locations across Europe – the hotel has created a state-of-the-art facility based on biohacking, anti-aging and data-driven therapy. The spa has seven treatment rooms as well as herbal saunas, a steam room, a Turkish bath, ice showers, cold water and a pool – a complete space for relaxation and fruit.

What is the concept of health?

Positioned as a one-of-a-kind offering on Lake Como, Longevity Spa focuses on science-backed wellness at its core. Yet it offers a careful balance: alongside its high-tech credentials, there’s plenty of room for manipulation. I spent hours drifting between steam rooms, Finnish saunas, cold pools and pools; the whole experience proves almost as restorative as the treatments themselves.

What is the concept of nutrition?

The Longevity Kitchen offers bespoke nutritional programs tailored to individual goals, from anti-inflammatory and detox plans to energy enhancement and weight management strategies. Inspired by research in Blue Zones and informed by personal analysis, programs are available for three or six days with guidance to maintain results long after departure.

What are the signature treatments?

The treatment program is extensive, from jet lag recovery treatments aimed at lymphatic drainage to cryotherapy, DNA testing and the Iki-Sabi ritual, which combines seaweed fabrics with a professional facial. The Skin Glow Experience stood out from the wide range: starting with a detailed skin examination, moving on to a full body detox and ending with a facial tailored to individual needs.

Which doctor should I see?

Francesca was unique. Warm, knowledgeable and attentive, she quickly diagnosed my skin problems and adjusted the treatment accordingly – choosing a mild acid peel, a soothing alginate mask and a light cream suitable for oily and sensitive skin. I left the glory and racked up the cost of a regular trip back to Como to see the glory again.

What makes this spa different?

From cryotherapy rooms and oxygen facials to infrared or floating treatments, the spa has the latest health equipment. What I think really set it apart, was the lack of “clinic” that the spa and staff provided. It can be difficult for spas to position themselves scientifically to get this measure, but I think Longevity Spa does a great job.

What else do they offer?

Apart from the spa, the hotel is also worth visiting. The gym is among the best equipped I have ever come across and has the advantage of being open 24 hours with professional trainers on hand. In high season, guests can also sign up for sunrise yoga by the lake or even hiking through the nearby mountains.

The dining scene here is equally impressive, with two outstanding restaurants – one headed by three-star Michelin chef Mauro Colagreco – as well as an elegant bar clad in cerulean marble. The hotel also has the largest floating pool on Lake Como, perfect for relaxing in between spa treatments, if you can drag yourself away from the on-site wellness center.

Rooms

The hotel has 148 rooms, including 25 suites and two penthouses. The interior is clean, bright and modern. My dream lake cabin had arched doors that looked like windows that looked out over the water. Open them up to a Juliet balcony and you’re in a prime spot to watch the boats drift by on the water.

Is there anything else you can say?

Due to high demand and limited treatment rooms, I recommend booking your treatment in advance, especially for specialized, technology-led treatments.

The last word

The Longevity Spa is undoubtedly the highlight of the Como EDITION. While its science-led ethos, the biohacking ethos may sound daunting, the experience is refreshingly accessible. Whether you’re looking for luxury treatments or just a quiet afternoon by the indoor pool overlooking the mountains, this is a spa that caters to all needs.
