‘When I was looking for eco-friendly skin and hair products, I accidentally stumbled upon this brand.’
Taking care of your skin and hair has become a very popular trend in the last few years. With influencers sharing their daily routines and brands through advertisements, it’s become almost impossible to avoid beauty content when you’re online or watching TV.
However, while these products promise to rejuvenate your skin and bring life back to your hair, many of them come with hefty price tags that your everyday consumer can’t easily afford. While these items can be a good treat once in a while, they can quickly become expensive when purchased frequently.
Since the cost continues to rise for many products, I wanted to try to find products that can help my dry skin and hair but on a budget after a long cold winter. On a bit of a whim I came across an oil queue in Poundland.
It has five products, all priced at £2 each, this affordable range is a treatment for the face, lips and hair. Founded by Body Stories, the brand is known for creating dupes for high-end brands. In the past it has created serums and lotions that mimic products from beauty giants such as Charlotte Tilbury, Bobbi Brown, Sol de Janeiro and Estee Lauder.
I decided to put this £2 brand to the test and picked up 5 products that cost £10 in total. Everything had the smell and taste of honey.
And while I will happily continue to use other products, there is one that I probably won’t bother trying again. Read on to find out how I fared.
Lip Oil
As someone with dry lips, I often find myself reaching for a lip balm or moisturizer. This lip oil has a honey flavor and is infused with Moringa Oil and Vitamin E.
Compared to the products I used before, I liked the feel of this lip oil. Using a small brush tool, I was able to coat my lips without clumping. Apart from giving a smooth feeling, the lip oil also gives a glossy look to my lips which I can happily wear while out and about.
Overall, I feel like this lip oil will become something I continue to use every day as it gives a longer lasting feel than other lip balms. The honey scent is also not too strong which I really enjoy.
Face oil
Described as an ‘invigorating face oil’, this product is infused with Vitamin E and Jojoba Seed Oil. According to the product instructions, I have been using the oil once a day at night to let it work while I sleep.
After putting a few drops of the light oil on my hands, I rub them together before applying to my face and neck. After using the oil for a week, it is slowly growing on me. At first I felt that the oil left my skin feeling greasy after use, which was not something I was used to at all.
However, as the week progressed, I could feel the oil seeping into my skin, leaving it feeling smoother and looking brighter with a slight glow. I found that the oil was able to keep my skin soft and smooth throughout the night, ultimately making it feel healthy in the morning.
Hair Mask
I picked up one of the hair products and the first thing I tried was the hair mask. Including honey, coconut oil and shea butter, this mask left my hair soft and not as dry as before.
The mask is used after you wash your hair with shampoo and rinse with plenty of water after washing. From there, users have two options after massaging or blending the mask into the hair. Either leave the mask on for three to five minutes and then wash it off or leave it on for 30 minutes for a more intensive treatment.
As someone who avoids using conditioner on their hair as it often leaves it greasy, I was skeptical about the mask at first. However, I was surprised by the results. Making my hair manageable after washing, this mask was able to bring some life back to my dull and dry hair.
Hair oil
For those who want to cover any split ends, it is better to try hair oil. This one was designed to hydrate and smooth hair while adding shine. Great as the last step in your haircut, you can create a seamless look.
Also containing vitamin E and Moringa Oil, I have found that this oil has a slight shine to the ends of the hair as well as smoothing out other pesky parts. However, I must emphasize that a little really does go a long way. Customers really need to add a small amount to their hands before applying it to the hair to see the results.
At first I didn’t follow this advice and used too much oil on my hair. This immediately made my hair feel moist and greasy. Learning from my mistake, I now add a drop or two to my hands before running it through the ends of my hair to create a sleek look.
Hair conditioner
Out of all the products, I have no chance of using the hair conditioner again. I wanted to give your hair a fresh scent without drying it out, I didn’t like the smell of honey and argan oil.
As perfume is not something I use regularly anywhere, I won’t go out of my way to add it to my daily hair routine.
