Donni Davy redefined screen makeup in just two seasons of television. Now, the Emmy-winning makeup artist behind Euphoria is back for its long-awaited third season—and she’s determined to end the much-maligned “virgin girl” by bringing back next-level glamor.
The legendary artist’s guide – including instantly visible shimmering shadows and graphic eyeliner – has become synonymous with the popular show.
And the impact of the gritty drama is clear: Euphoria is HBO’s longest-running series and the network’s second-most popular of all time, surpassing only Game of Thrones.

When the third season begins on April 12, many are curious to know what kind of beautiful, colorful makeup we can expect to see from the ensemble, which includes Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, and Colman Domingo. The third season will feature prominent stars such as Sharon Stone, singer Rosalía, and Natasha Lyonne. Poker face.

Davy, founder of the multi-hued and wildly popular brand Half Magic Beauty, spoke to The Looker about the makeup trends he expects to see in the real world, what viewers can expect. EuphoriaThe highly anticipated new season, and the TikTok Store item everyone wanted to play with.
PLACE: What can we expect to see Euphoria in the third period?
Donnie Davey: Season three is glam from head to toe. Just because there wasn’t much flavor in the trailer doesn’t mean there won’t be.

It is different; it emphasizes the lips and eyes, not just the eyes and bare skin. It’s kind of a total agreement. From head to toe. It’s like a campaign against the “pure girl” [trend].
SPACE: What big trends do you foresee coming or have you already seen in the real world?
DD: Maximalist Makeup is bigger and stronger than ever. We will see a lot of bright, shiny and colorful shades that are sharper than soft.

We will also see experimental lip colors as an easy way to embrace maximalism – black and deeper reds, or cold shades.

I also think people will start breaking ground. You just don’t need it. There’s something rebellious and fresh about letting your true self shine through, and I think we’ll see more of that with celebrities.
I won’t be surprised if I start seeing more people getting into their skin, like Pamela Anderson.

THE LOOKER: What tips or tricks do you have for people who want to try maximalist makeup?
DD: Start with a colorful eyeshadow. Instead of using beige, brown, or bronze, try lavender, blue, or mauve.
You don’t have to immediately become an expert at squiggly, crazy eyeliner covered in rhinestones. People will, and obviously there’s a place for that, but my suggestion is to start with eyeshadow—something that’s easy to do with your finger.
[Davy’s favorite Sparklestik Eye Crayon shade is ‘Frostiwinkle’; if you need a jumping-off point, it’s $25 at Ulta.]
VIEWER: What is your skin care routine? What are your current favorite products?
DD: I use Sofie Pavitt Omega Rich Skin Cream ($64, Sephora), which is also my favorite foundation for Euphoria put. I keep it simple, but that’s my thing.
At night, I’ll use the regular Prequel Cleanser ($36 for two, Amazon). I like things to be simple and unscented. I don’t need salicylic acid or anything else in my cleanser. I don’t wash my face in the morning—I don’t want to mess up my skin while it’s soaking all night, and everything ends up fine.

Another thing I will use is Prequel Universal Skin Solution Dermal Spray ($17, Amazon). Zendaya put me in a hypochlorous acid solution. My skin loves it. I will spray it maybe twice a day. I also spray it on my arms or chest after I work out.
This is the best skin I’ve ever had in my entire life, so I’m going to keep doing what I’ve been doing. It’s tempting, and I really want to get into it and try the fancy stuff, but I can’t rock the boat right now. I have dealt with a lot of acne in the past.

SPACE: What’s your current favorite window?
DD: I love faux freckles. I use the ColourPop Freckle Pen ($9, ColourPop) and the Beaubble & Rudi Freckle Pen ($22, Beaubble & Rudi).
I’ll do face contouring and spotting, skip the foundation, and use artificial spots for my subtle nose and cheeks. I’ll wear it with face gel and lip liner (Half Magic Sculptitude Liner in Emo Rose, $19, Ulta) to keep things simple.

SPACE: What are your current favorite beauty or health products?
DD: I’m into this vibrating lymphatic plate that I got from the TikTok store. I had that in the trailer, and the cast would also use it. I don’t know how effective it is at lymphatic draining, but it makes me feel really good, like it releases endorphins and rejuvenates my mood.

If I’m having a really busy day and I’ve got a lot going on, I’ll pop in, hang out for 10 minutes, and listen to my favorite songs in the makeup trailer. After that, I feel like a better and better person. Any worries you have in mind, [it] it just shakes.
It’s like screaming and running around the block, you’ll feel relief afterwards. It’s like that, but a simpler type of work.

I also love this vibrator face cream ($15, Amazon), which I use when I do makeup on other people—I’ll use it with the Sofie Pavitt cream. It’s $15 on Amazon. I will recommend it to everyone.
